The Primavera team of the AC Milan Women went one step further by winning the Viareggio Cup having finished runners-up last time.
At the end of a very hard-fought match against the Rappresentativa LND, the Rossonere prevailed on penalty kicks in the end. Milan took the lead in the first half and again in the first half of extra time but were twice pegged back, eventually prevailing 4-1 on penalties.
After sailing through the knockout stages of the competition with three wins, 24 goals scored and zero conceded, they met a very difficult opponent who were well organised and forced the Rossonere to shoot largely from range.
The goals arrived thanks to Cesarini and then Sevenius, but Battilana’s goal in the second half of extra-timetook the game to penalty kicks, which Milan won to join Juventus (x2) and Brøndby in having lifted the prestigious youth women’s trophy.
