CorSera: Ibrahimovic hoping for San Siro swan song with double sessions planned

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not the kind of man who ever seemed likely to just let his AC Milan career drift towards its conclusion, and he is working hard to make one final appearance.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that it won’t be easy for Ibrahimovic to get back on the field because of the calf injury he sustained on 23 April against Lecce during warm-ups.

However, the Swede will do everything to be on the pitch for at least a few minutes in the last league match against Verona at San Siro. It is a race against time, but Zlatan is doing double training sessions and extra therapy to try and get back.

At the moment the chances of seeing him on the pitch for the last time in a Milan shirt are slim given that he is still working on his own in the gym, but next week will be decisive in understanding whether or not he could be called up.

His return to the club in January 2020 was in fact fundamental for the rebirth of Milan and therefore Ibra deserves to greet the Milan fans in the way he deserves, which is on the field.

After winning the Scudetto the renewal of Zlatan was almost obligatory, now the extension of Ibra is no longer a priority for the management. A definitive decision will only be made at the end of the season, but the chances of a new renewal are practically nil.

However, it cannot be ruled out that there is the idea of a contract for him as a director or in Pioli’s coaching staff.

  1. Put him in anyway if we have already secured CL. He can start the game and be subbed of if he can’t play instead of having him on in the end if we need to go for goals.

  2. Would love to see him one last time in a Milan shirt but probably even more as part of the coaching staff or a director.
