The five key battles that could win or lose the game for Milan against Udinese

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Udinese later this evening and after the 1-1 draw against Salernitana, they will be looking to get back to winning ways. Down below are the key battles for the game.

Starting with the big return (from start) of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he will be up against the young but talented Jaka Bijol. The latter is tall and also very strong, meaning he should at least be able to give the Swede a tough time.

Just behind Ibrahimovic, there should be an interesting battle between Brahim Diaz and Udinese’s defensive midfielder Wallace. The Spaniard likes to find the space between the midfield and the defence, which he does well, and Udinese will need to stop him.

Udinese have an attacking threat in Tottenham loanee Destiny Udogie. He has three goals and two assists this season and the key battle will be with Pierre Kalulu. Alexis Saelemaekers will also be at hand.

As for Milan’s wing threat, Rafael Leao is eager to break out of the negative period and he will be up against Becao. The latter has a knack for scoring against the Rossoneri but he will have to do his defensive duties as well.

Finally, Udinese’s strong forward Beto (and he also has some pace) will be up against Malick Thiaw. It’s a battle that could set the tone for Udinese’s attack, as neutralising the striker would hurt them a lot.

  1. I have a bad feeling about this game. It feels like we’re on the cusp of another run of bad form. Not sure why I feel this why, but I do. Hope I’m wrong.
