Repubblica: Numbers lay bare how bad Milan’s drop-off in 2023 has been

AC Milan’s season has rather fallen apart domestically speaking during 2023 so far and the numbers highlight how bad a drop-off it has been.

As reported by La Repubblica (via MilanNews), the collapse of Milan after the World Cup in Qatar was evident and its performance in Serie A testifies perfectly. Before the break that started in November, the Rossoneri were second in the standings behind Napoli and they were eight points away.

However, when taking into account results from January 4 onwards – i.e. after the World Cup break – Milan are sat in 12th place after particularly bad months in January and March either side of a February revival of sorts.

As mentioned, Stefano Pioli’s side were not a million miles from Napoli and got within five points after their loss to Inter to begin the new year, however they have since gone on a run that sees them 15 points worse off than the Serie A leaders in 2023 alone.
