MN: New 70k home plus club headquarters – Milan pushing hard for La Maura solution

By Oliver Fisher -

It was another important week regarding the new stadium project as Gerry Cardinale was in Italy for some important meetings over the past few days.

MilanNews recall that the Milan owner was in the city from Wednesday to Friday, visiting the Mayor Beppe Sala, the governor of Lombardy Attilio Fontana and the manager of F3A Green Federico Consolandi, the company that would sign a preliminary sale agreement for the purchase of the area where the stadium would be built.

La Maura seems to be the site that Cardinale and the Rossoneri are pushing for. It is a vast site very close to the current San Siro and the plan would also be to construct the club’s headquarters there, modernising the entire area without eliminating much green space already present.

After a few years appearing alongside Inter pitching the idea of building a new stadium together next to San Siro, Milan seem to have gotten fed up of waiting and now want a stadium on their own and in a different spot.

It would require a total investment of over €600m (the rest to be made up in other ways) and the first hypotheses state a capacity of 70,000 seats, with construction to take place over three years. Milan have asked for at least two weeks to develop a general project and present it, and then there will be more updates.
