Pedulla says potential Maldini replacement has been ‘proposed to Milan and Napoli’

By Euan Burns -

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has said that AC Milan and Napoli have both been given the chance to make an approach for former Lazio sporting director Igli Tare.

As was tweeted by Pedulla, the rumours around who will be the new technical director at Milan are coming thick and fast after it was announced that he has been sacked by Gerry Cardinale.

Whilst the focus at this time of year is primarily on the transfer of players, there is a lot of focus on the sporting directors at the top Serie A clubs.

It seems likely that Napoli’s Cristian Giuntoli will be heading to Juventus, and Tare has now left Lazio. That leaves three clubs from the Serie A top four needing a sporting director.

Pedulla reports that Milan and Napoli have both been made aware of Tare’s availability and he would presumably be interested in both clubs, if they want him.

“Tare has been proposed to AC Milan and Napoli, so far without openings,” he wrote.

  1. I’m just gonna grab the popcorn 🍿 right now. I’m already over the drama lol. They did what they did and I’ll support whoever is leading the team but I find this to be funny. Perennial winner Tare lol. This isn’t Lazio. Milan is a heavy sports team with massive expectations

    1. I guess, whoever comes will make tight-fisted Cardinale open his palm. We’re watching.

I suspect, the aim is to sell the top players for profit. He is going to use the stadium building as excuse. He’s hoping the players play into his hands by either asking for transfer or showing apathy. Cardinale is a fraud. He doesn’t give a damn about Milan. He’s only interested in the Benjamins.

    2. But also a larger budget than Lazio. Not a whole lot larger, but there it is. That said I’m also not convinced. I wonder if there is a chance to hijack Juventus’ deal for Giuntoli, or maybe Tony D’Amico from Atalanta, or maybe Giovanni Sartori at Bologna formerly at Atalanta (the real architect of the discovery of the talent that made them a real force 2-3 seasons ago), or maybe even Riccardo Bigon who was at Napoli before Giuntoli.

    3. Correction: we WERE (past tense) a heaven sports team with massive expectations. That was the last. Welcome to the new AC Milan under Redbird….PROFIT not titles. Taré is perfect – he has worked for an owner for 20 years who doesn’t spend $$$ and hasn’t won anything LOL. The Redbird way!!!

  2. 50 milion and so many expectations…just not realistic in today’s game. Last team in PL has more money for transfers. Americans are fraud for sure.

  3. All will be well. Maldini wanted pure autonomy over how the transfer market was run, whilst Cardinale wanted him to take input from Pioli and the “moneyball data team” Milan has set up in collaboration with Moncada. There is a 75m EUR budget available for this window. We will do well.

    1. 75 million eh? Where did u get that from? You know its 35m right? Lol 😂😂 😂 media got u guys again huh
