Sesto mayor confirms Milan are down to two potential areas for stadium project

AC Milan have narrowed their hunt down to two areas for the stadium project, more specifically La Maura and Sesto San Giovanni. This was confirmed by the mayor of Sesto, Roberto Di Stefano.

In recent weeks, Milan have made important progress in their stadium pursuit as the San Siro project has more or less been abandoned. They are evaluating the La Maura area for their own stadium and Sesto also remains an option.

Speaking to AGI, as cited by SempreMilan.it, Sesto mayor Di Stefano spoke about the stadium situation and revealed that the Sesto area is ready for the club. He also acknowledged that the La Maura hypothesis is alive.

“The two options [La Maura and Sesto] remain in parallel and it seems to me that there are only these left to evaluate. In recent weeks, I’ve spoken to AC Milan’s urban planners, the same ones who analyzed Sesto and who are working on evaluating the pros and cons of the locations now. If Milan were to arrive we would welcome them with open arms. But they will make the decision,” he stated.

One thing that speaks in favour of La Maura is the fact that it’s within the city limits. That increased the value of the land and the future stadium rather than building outside of the city, but Sesto would also be a good option.
