Athletic: Milan made deadline day move for Chelsea forward and could try again

By Ben Dixon -

There have been rumours that AC Milan had suspended their hunt for a new striker until the summer. However, a report has emerged stating that the club attempted to bring a forward to the club on deadline day.

For the majority of the month, the rumours about Milan signing a striker have pointed to the fact that the Rossoneri would postpone any attempts until the summer mercato instead of acting in this window.

However, today, The Athletic have reported that the club made a late attempt to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja. The Albanian striker has seen spells of minutes, and, as a result, he has been told he can leave the club on loan to pursue first-team opportunities.

The report states that the Diavolo enquired about signing the forward on loan earlier today, but due to financial constraints, the deal was not pursued further.

However, it is worth noting that there are expectations that a deal will be revisited in the summer, though, in what regard is yet to be seen. It will rely on his performance on loan over the next few months, but it is certainly an intriguing option to keep an eye on, especially considering the Rossoneri’s long-term interest in him.

    1. 13, 7 of that as a sub. 455 minutes. And around 250 min in cups.

I think he has potential but he will never develop it at Chelsea

      1. We don’t need a #9 with “potential”. We need a #9 who scores 1-2 goals each week. There’s already Jovic & Giroud to be the back for next season. And/or Colombo. Doesn’t make sense to waste money on Broja.

        1. i never said milan needs him. i said he has potential. Even if he only scored one goals this season doesnt mean he will be the same next season no matter which club he will be in. Example the CDK. He also has potential, right? We never got it out of him. Gasperini does get it out of him…

    2. He has the physic and profile that we are looking for. Definitely has potential, but also quite a gamble (especially considering his injury record at such a young age). I would put him somewhere in the bottom end of our list

      1. What good is “physic & profile” when you can’t do the main job of the #9 which is to score goals? Lots of goals.

Colombo has physic. Lucca has physic. And both have already scored waaaay more than Broja ever will.
