Athletic: Origi back in the fold after LAFC rumours as Forest suffer injury blow

By Oliver Fisher -

Any chances of Divock Origi sealing a move to Los Angeles FC seem to have been ended for the time being because Nottingham Forest are struggling with injuries.

Origi is yet to score a goal for the East Midlands club and thus reports began to circulate about a potential early termination of his loan, with a move to Major League Soccer mentioned.

Gianluca Di Marzio even went one further stating that the Belgian was expected to join Los Angeles FC on an initial loan deal which would include an obligation to buy fixed at €5m, but then things went quiet.

According to the latest update from The Athletic, Forest striker Chris Wood is expected to miss around six to eight weeks with a hamstring problem and that has left Nuno Espirito Santo scrambling for options.

Origi is the man who could ‘bolster their forward options’ after Santo confirmed the 28-year-old is back in training and could be involved in the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Bristol City on Wednesday.

“He (Wood) is out. He is going to be out for some time. Hopefully not a long time, but let’s see. We are frustrated but this happens. Chris felt uncomfortable so we did a scan and there is a minor injury there,” he said.

  1. Well this can only be a good thing. If he shows some glimpse of what he can do. Maybe score a goal or two, at least his stock will not be zero 🤷‍♂️ I dunno
