Barcelona are reportedly worried by the situation linked to Sergino Dest, who has not played a game for AC Milan since January 24.
Mundo Deportivo writes how Dest is on his way to three months without a game and it seems that he is not a part of Stefano Pioli’s plans at all, given the Rossoneri have even given him permission to play am exhibition match for the USA against Mexico which is taking place outside of an approved FIFA window.
Dest’s situation worries Barça because they approved a loan move to Milan for the right-back thinking that he would earn himself a starting position and raise his value in view of the summer window.
However, Milan do not intend to exercise their option to buy – set at €20m – or even attempt to renew his loan. Muscular problems, unknown injuries and unconvincing training sessions have kept him out of the team and even the matchday squad in general.
The Barça management have tried to gather information. The club’s intention was to incorporate him into a swap deal or sell him at a good price, but his ostracism makes this scenario difficult.

Never understooe the logic of this move in the first place. We didn’t need him. The few minutes he got should have been for a primavera player.
The logic in his loan move was that florenzi was injured Aug 29, 2022 and first returned Feb 28, 2023. Dest was brought in september 1rst 2022 and i bet they also hoped that he could work as a backup for theo if necessary. Unfortunately things hasnt panned out for him and certainly wont be bought for the 20 mil option this coming summer.
As a UMSNT and Milan fan I was initially excited for the move even if it was a bad fit. Think he’d be a good move if we played with a RWB or had a decent RW to pair him with. But he’s a Theo style of defender who cares more about going forward than playing solid defense which is not what this team needs on our right side at the moment. He’s definitely better on the US team where he has more freedom.
Dest is actually a very good player. It’s clear when you watch him play. The problem with Dest is he *thinks* he’s the best player on the field which causes him to try to play like it and end up embarrassed. Dest would be a lock to start every game if he played like Calabria instead trying to play like Theo.
He’s very young. With a little maturity he could develop that humility that would make him a starter for a top tier team.
