Reports: Conceicao hypothesis returns for Milan after Villas-Boas election at Porto

By Isak Möller -

During the night, Andre Villas-Boas was confirmed as the new president of Porto after winning the election, ending the 42-year reign of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. As a result, the Sergio Conceicao hypothesis has returned for AC Milan.

Conceicao renewed his contract with Porto just a few days ago, shaking hands with Pinto da Costa, and the Milan links subsequently died. However, due to the election results, the manager could leave the Portuguese side after all.

According to journalists such as Gianluigi Longari and Fabrizio Romano, a clause in the contract means it can be terminated by mutual consent. It’s no secret that Conceicao has a great relationship with Pinto da Costa and it’s possible that Villas-Boas has other plans for the club.

As per Longari, the Rossoneri have mentioned Conceicao in their pursuit of a new manager but he doesn’t appear to be a priority for now. This could potentially change given the situation at Porto, as Milan most likely new before that a renewal was on the cards.

Everything will depend on Villas-Boas and Conceicao, of course, and the parties will likely sit down to talk about the future very soon. Milan will surely be keeping an eye on the situation.
