Eintracht Frankfurt director admits to being ‘surprised’ Kamada’s Milan move collapsed

By Oliver Fisher -

Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche has admitted his surprise that Daichi Kamada didn’t end up joining AC Milan on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old ended up amassing 15 goals and 6 assists in 44 games across the Bundesliga, Champions League, European Super Cup and German Cup last season, making him one of the more attractive possibilities.

Fabrizio Romano was among the sources who confirmed that Milan had held positive talks with the entourage of Kamada over the possibility of him joining on a free, and it seems that everything was lined up to the point of just needing to rubber stamp the documents.

However, things went quiet when Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were sacked from their positions as technical and sporting director, with Christian Pulisic, Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze arriving to bolster the attack instead.

Now, Krösche has responded to a question regarding Kamada’s future and in particular what happened to his supposed move to Milan, with the Eintracht director admitting his surprise.

“I am surprised that Kamada’s transfer to Milan has been scrapped. In the end, we will have to see what Daichi decides. It is his personal decision,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

    1. He now ask 5m from Lazio but he previously only asked 3m from Milan. Our great history make some players lower their demand, especially those who dream to play for Milan like Kamada.

      1. Pretty sure he wants 5 million from us. And I think I will believe what’s in the reports. By the way, management won’t sign him. He’s not the style of player we want.

        1. I agree he doesn’t fit 4-3-3 but one of the most reliable source (Di Marzio) reported that he asked 3m from Milan. It’s normal to put higher salary demand when the move is unfavorable such as to Lazio/Roma or even Saudi Arabia.
