Chelsea boss Pochettino suggests he could trust Milan target rather than sign new striker

By Oliver Fisher -

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that they could put faith in reported AC Milan target Armando Broja rather than sign another striker.

Broja has been out of action since last December when he ruptured is ACL and the swathe of new signings threatened to place him on the margins of Chelsea’s plans for the coming campaign.

In addition to that, a serious injury to Christopher Nkunku has sparked suggestions that the Blues will return to the market and sign another forward, though they did see an attempt for Michael Olise fail.

Meanwhile, Broja has been linked with a move to Milan who are once again looking to Chelsea for a forward after the signings of Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud in recent years, plus of course Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori.

Pochettino spoke at a press conference today and while he admitted the club will continue to monitor the market for opportunities, Broja could step up and fill the void too.

“We are working of course. Seeing all of the options we can manage on the market,” he said (via the Express).

“I think all the clubs are doing the same as us. But at the same time, we are keeping one or two eyes on Armando Broja. I think we cannot forget him, we cannot stop him and to bring in some profile of player that can stop his evolution

“We really believe in him, we know him really well. He can be a really important striker for Chelsea and we need to be careful. I think it’s a big disappointment, the situation with Christoph because he should be a very important players for us to help Nico Jackson to score goals but that is football and we need to accept that situation.

“But at the same time we cannot sometimes go for some player that maybe after will stop a player we have. Maybe we have to be patient and to try to adapt our squad to try and get positive results, waiting for Armando to get fully fit.”

  1. Chelsea still has Romelu Lukaku as Nicolas Jackson’s backup. Armando Broja don’t have future at Chelsea. If he stay at Chelsea, he will follow Tiemoue Bakayoko’s path.

Chelsea did many bad decisions at their transfer policy. They certainly didn’t care about the Head Coach’s plan and sign any players that the scout suggests are good.
