Sportiello responds to ‘disappointing’ season claims: “All because Inter won”

By Isak Möller -

Following the draw against Juventus, Marco Sportiello spoke to the media and was asked about the season in general for AC Milan. Contrary to popular belief, he stated that it hasn’t been disappointing.

Sportiello was one of the protagonists for Milan in yesterday’s draw, receiving a relatively high score in our player ratings, as he made several good saves. Given that Mike Maignan had to throw in the towel during the warm-ups, the Italian showcased a great mentality.

After the game, he was interviewed by DAZN (via MilanNews) and the reporter asked him about the season in general. However, contrary to what most fans would say, Sportiello stated that the disappointment is solely because Inter won the league.

“Disappointing season? In my opinion, it’s all because Inter won the league. If Juventus or Napoli had been in the lead, there wouldn’t have been this mess,” he stated.

Given that Milan were knocked out of the Champions League, the Coppa Italia and the Europa League, the disappointment certainly doesn’t stem from the league only. In other words, Sportiello is pretty far off with his words and settling for mediocrity should never be the Rossoneri’s stance.

  1. If sportiello wasn’t settling for mediocrity, how could a goalkeeper per excellence settle for back up? I couldn’t be more surprised if he says otherwise….it’s like saying Gigi Buffon to be a reserve? No , never despite how old he went to Parma as the no 1 goalkeeper before retiring…. sportiello should shut his mouth and aim for the top not settling for 2nd and qualification for champions league! That’s a looser mentality…

    1. Bro he is wrong , 100% wrong. The manner with which we got knocked out of all competitions, and inter using us to clinch the league, men
