Telelombardia: Milan show interest in on-loan Man Utd midfielder – the numbers

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have shown interest in loaning Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat who is currently on loan from Fiorentina.

As reported by Nicolo Schira to Telelombardia (via Radio Rossonera), the Rossoneri feel that Amrabat could be a solid addition to the midfield given he has performed very well in Serie A in the past.

Amrabat has spent the season on loan at Manchester United and it is fair to say that he has failed to live up to expectations, looking a shadow of his Fiorentina self and the version of himself he showed at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Man Utd do have an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season but it would be a shock if they took that opportunity, so it is Fiorentina that Milan would be buying the Moroccan from.

A fee of around €10-15m could be enough for Amrabat, and if he reverted back to his former self, that could represent something of a bargain.

Amarabat’s agents have already met with Milan, whilst Juventus are also in the picture with Cristiano Guintoli having always been a fan of the midfielder.

If the fee stays low, it could be a deal with minimal risk.

  1. He is ok for Fiorentina not Milan. Go for Thuram. We need something more then just okeish players. I know a lot of people liked Amrabat but he is not a top DM that’s the reality.

    1. Most players are underperforming at Man United because of Man United, he might thrive with us ?
Thuram is more of a central midfielder if I’m correct and we need a defensive midfielder.
Perhaps we should consider Hojberg or Hjulmand.

        1. There was an article some days ago in which it was said we can spend up to 100M maybe even more and that doesn’t include the money we’re likely to get from CDK and Saelemakers.
I don’t know if it’s true or not, but that’s well enough to get a striker, a CDM like Hjulmand and perhaps a CB.

        2. We could have gotten Hjulmand for 19mil last year from Lecce. This is why i don’t like our scouting team, they are practically usles.

  2. It could be a very good bargain. Same for Walace at around the same price, maybe lower if Udinese get relegated. Another interesting payer from Udinese for the CB department is Nehuen Perez, who has been capped by Argentina, and is still only 23. I think he could be had for ~15M with relegation, but around ~20M if they survive.

    1. Udinese have few interesting players, Locca included. If they get relegated, Milan should take advantage of that situation and get some some of them on cut price

    2. Yes , better udinese & sassoulo relegated . Both team always tough for ACM. Their player can available cheap too if they relegated. Wallace will be a steal at cheap price if udinese relegated or that DMF from sassoulo

  3. Would have been my first choice last season, still hold him in high regards as I discount every players who cant perform with Man U or Chelsea.

He’s gonna take a non EU spot though, unless he’s got some other European passport?

  4. I’d rather have Wallace, Amrabat lacks pace in the middle of the park, as stated he’s fine for Fiorentina and sides not competing at the top like Manchester United. But we have expectations, and I don’t think he fits the bill at this point in his career.

  5. We missed out on Hujlmond for less than 20m and now he is worth double that at least. We need to sell Bennacer and Musa, buy proper n6. If we are playing with 3 man midfield, we should consider buying Frendrup who is a Gattuso style midfielder and place Adli as N6 with RLC or rain man
