TuttoC: Milan picking between two former defenders for U23 team job

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are still pushing to have a development team put in Serie C ahead of next season and they have begun to think about who the head coach of that team might be.

Juventus and Atalanta have decided to already take the first initiative by registering their respective U23 squads to compete in Serie C, where they compete now.

In 2018, Juve formed a Next Gen side to play against stronger and older opposition as Atalanta followed their lead in August to enter the third division. Now, Milan want to follow their lead.

According to what Tuttoc.com are reporting, two former players are being considered to take on the job of being the head coach of the new team, with current Primavera boss Ignazio Abate one of them.

However, the Primavera boss is not a shoe-in for the role as many thought. Daniele Bonera – who is currently a coach with Stefano Pioli and the first team – could take the reins instead of Abate.

The decision could be made by Jovan Kirovski, the former LA Galaxy director strongly wanted at Milan by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It is predicted that Kirovski will have the task of acting as a liaison between the first team and the Under 23s, meaning it is something that could fall in his remit.
