Tuttosport: Cercle Brugge star emerges as alternative with Zirkzee’s price rocketing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are almost certain to sign at least one new striker during the summer transfer window and they have turned their attentions to a player in Belgium, a report claims.

Milan could well say goodbye to Olivier Giroud given that his contract expires at the end of the season and thus it will be necessary to invest in a new profile for the future, who offers guarantees in terms of replacing the Frenchman’s goals.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) – which references yesterday’s report from Calciomercato.com – Kevin Denkey is a new name that has emerged on the list of Geoffrey Moncada and his team.

Denkey is enjoying an extraordinary year with Cercle Brugge: in 31 games he has scored 26 goals so far. The amount to be invested should not exceed €20m, and that makes him a much cheaper option than some of the other names linked.

Joshua Zirkzee is one of the names that is high on Milan’s list, but Bologna want €70m for him because there are clauses in favour of Bayern Munich, plus competition from Juventus to deal with.

That is the same sum that Sporting CP would like to receive for Viktor Gyokeres, who actually has a €100m clause. Feyenoord want €60-70m for Santiago Gimenez, while €50m is the price for Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, Jonathan David of Lille and Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen.

  1. Just pay Sesko 50 mil clause and move on.. cheaping around for players reminds me 2 much of banter signings. Many and all poor quality

  2. I though our last striker from Belgium was a huuuuuuuuuge succes. Maybe this one could actually score a goal? Or if we’re superlucky, perhaps even two?! Wouldn’t that be awesome?

  3. So in 32 rounds of Serie A he has 8 goals from play and 2 penalties, playing for a good team.

The money being talked about is ridiculous.
I don’t think he suits our needs anyway, it’s a CDK 2.0 move

If the management are set on trying to buy him, just offer the 40m to include Alexis, so 30m cash.

I’d still prefer we find a proper striker.
The Ukranian guy at Girona for example.
Sesko also looks a very good prospect and if we want to spend crazy money, go for Openda

    1. Or as some people here suggested – Scamacca
That way we get rid of CDK and don’t have to spend money.

For anyone in doubt about CDK, watch him v Liverpool at about 11mins 30 sec.
He is standing on the edge of the 6 yard box, unmarked, the ball is played to his feet and instead of taking the shot, he flicks it backwards to a team mate on the edge of the box. An absolutely ridiculous thing to do and the chance disappeared.

  4. Moneyball Moncada is not interested in winning.

They are motivated by buying cheap players, using Milan’s history and selling high.

Moneyball man will not make a big signing, because it won’t bring in the revenue when they flip and sell, and with salary+fees included. it’s probably a wash.

So we’re going to sign some french cheapie, hope that they work out and if they do, sell in a year or two. If they don’t, time for another moneyball purchase and ignore the past again.

People don’t see it yet, but Milan’s history is going to go through a dark era with Moncada in charge. To him, his legacy is profit, not winning. You need to understand this.

Many fans are loyal to Milan, but Milan mgmt will not share that sentiment. The goal is $$$, whatever the cost.
