Tuttosport: Torino want Milan youngster but have low valuation in mind

By Oliver Fisher -

Lorenzo Colombo will return to AC Milan in the summer when his loan spell with Monza is done and there is a club within Serie A interested in signing him, a report claims.

As we highlighted in our latest Substack piece yesterday, it has not been the season Milan would have hoped for when they sent Colombo on loan to a team just up the road in Monza.

While the striker has shown his qualities at times, even scoring against the Rossoneri, he has been far too inconsistent with just four goals in 22 games for Raffaele Palladini’s side.

According to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), the 21-year-old will return to base in the summer and then leave again, with Torino currently the team most interested in securing his performances.

Toro’s idea would be to take Colombo as a third striker, behind Duván Zapata and Matheus Saldanha. The latter is a Brazilian striker currently at Partizan who sporting director Davide Vagnati wants to replace Antonio Sanabria.

The Granata would then have to sell former Rossoneri player Pietro Pellegri and not buy David Okereke from Cremonese on a permanent basis.

Colombo would then compete for the role of third striker for Torino with Ange-Yoann Bonny who is at Parma, valued at just under €10m by the Italian club.

For Torino, Colombo is worth less than Bonny considering his sub-par season. However, it is unlikely that Milan will agree with that assessment.

  1. Lol, if they get 8M for Colombo it will be a good deal. Demanding anything more is just sheer greed and blowing this opportunity to use this to lower Buongiorno’s transfer fee would be sheer madness.

  2. I dont think it is good idea sending him on loan to torino for 3rd choice striker. Better sell him fast , he is not top club striker material

  3. We need colombo for registration
After Girourd leave, we need world class striker
Then we have jovic as 2nd striker, colombo as third

then again, we need to thin out our 1st eleven. we might sign old striker as 3rd backup, and wait camarda to replace 3rd spot.

  4. Colombo has talent, you only have to see the amazing goals he has scored. He is young and quite big, so it’s taking him time to find consistency.
Mark my words, he will be a good striker!

It might be a good idea to bring him home, keep him as part of our new roster with player X and Jovic.
With the kind of creative players we have he would get better chances and might just find momentum.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I hope we give him a real chance before letting him go. His left foot is just incredible

    1. I really like Colombo and like you have high hopes for him. That said, saw a bit last week, he played the last 20 min or so against Cagliari (aka a relegation team) and played badly. Had a 1vs1 with GK that he missed horribly, and another great chance where he chose to hit from a very tight angle instead of passing. Considering he was fresh and the game was still 1-0, he should have done much better. I’m not a Monza fan and I was pissed with how he was playing.

In other words, he should be given chances but he also needs to deserve them. Otherwise I’d rather we get another young striker as 3rd choice.
