IlSecoloXIX: Retegui set to miss out for Genoa against Milan

By Euan Burns -

Genoa are set to be without Italian striker Mateo Retegui for their match against AC Milan this evening which is a blow to the Grifone, a report claims.

As has been reported by Il Secolo XIX (via Milan News), Alberto Gilardino is going to have to navigate the game against his former side without his main striker as Retegui needs to rest a knee problem he picked up against Udinese.

They expect him to return after the international break but Gilardino will need to find a new solution in attack. That solution could be front two that involved former Milan winger Junior Messias.

The Brazilian left Milan in the summer for Genoa when it became clear that the likes of Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze will be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Milan are expected to rotate in attack as well, with Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao resting.

  1. I wanted to see him in action over a full game as we seem to sign players that do well against us (eg Okafor , Origi)

But its good he’s missing as he’s a dangerous goalscorer. Maybe will be our no.9 next season?
