Arrigo Sacchi shared his thoughts on AC Milan’s 3-2 win against Udinese this morning and had a lot of praise for the Rossoneri. With Stefano Pioli reaching an important milestone, and the players fighting, the legendary manager was impressed.
Milan opened the scoring through Ruben Loftus-Cheek after 31 minutes against Udinese, and many fans probably expected a nice evening there and then. However, following the racist chants towards Mike Maignan, the home side turned things around and had a 2-1 lead after 62 minutes.
Pioli made some substitutions, bringing on Luka Jovic and Noah Okafor, and both of them managed to get on the scoresheet. In his editorial for Gazzetta dello Sport, the legendary manager Sacchi praised Milan for their performance and above all desire to fight back.
“After the interruption, due to the racist chants, the game changed. Milan seemed compact, less concentrated, and more approximate. On the first goal, Kjaer wasn’t perfect in closing and on the second, what did Theo Hernandez do? The Rossoneri, however, were very good at reacting, recovering the game and turning it around.
“We must congratulate Pioli’s boys because they committed themselves, they gave their soul and, despite showing some limitations, they deserve praise. When someone gives everything, for me he is a hero. What more can you ask from him? This is the fourth consecutive league win for the Rossoneri, and the streak is starting to make the fans smile.
“Not that all the problems have been solved, but we can see improvements and, above all, we admire the attempt to overcome the difficulties. Against Udinese, it must be said straight away that the success was deserved. Milan dominated in the first part, then there was the matter of the chants, the interruption, and Udinese took the upper hand by exploiting the uncertainties of Pioli’s team.
“But Milan’s reaction was vehement: only a real group behaves that way. And this is the best answer you can give. Udinese are a tough opponent, physically powerful, well organised, capable of covering spaces and starting quickly on the counterattack. The Rossoneri had the strength to withstand the blow and, even when they went down, they did well to come back,” he writes.
Milan will face Bologna next and after cementing their spot in third place, they will be looking to give Juventus and Inter a run for their money. They have certainly restored some confidence with the recent performances and yesterday’s win was a big boost.
