MN: Curva Sud dial up pressure on Milan leadership after recent defeats

By Oliver Fisher -

The Curva Sud and other AC Milan have often expressed patience and faith towards the project being carried out, but things could change unless clear steps are taken this summer.

MilanNews relay the clear and direct message that Luca Lucci – the head of the Curva Sud – wanted to send on Instagram after the derby defeat, which capped off a very disappointing recent period in the worst way.

“On the one hand, a team and a club that keeps a fan base alive. On the other, a fan base that keeps a team and a club going. The Curva Sud will always be untouchable,” he said.

Nobody connected to Milan is happy, because Inter’s second star win on Monday evening in the derby will be a stain on the history of the club, of this coach and of this ownership.

The Curva have always been close to the team and has never publicly criticised the club for the choices made, even letting the sacking of Paolo Maldini slide, but now there is an air of tension and expectation.

However, it cannot be ruled out that there could also be changes in the stance of the group and of the fan base in general towards the project, especially if significant moves are not made to hire a top-quality coach and make signings that raise the level of the squad.

Is this Sempre saying this or MN as I didn’t seem any quotation marks?
Either way there’s some naivety in this. The first part about never publicly criticising the club or its choices is patently false. The Curva has MANY many times in the past criticized openly the owners, directors, coach, players and even asked fans to boycott /not support the team. For instance, they criticized Galliani whether rightly or wrongly, for the purchase of Matri when funds were low. What about “inset coin/game over”? Even this year they want Pioli sacked, didn’t they? After they literally said before the season started “it’s not up to us to make assessments on the work of managers, coaches and players. ” But they still do. They’re a contradictory, selfish bunch and whichever way the wind blows they’re sure to fly with it.
They couldn’t criticize the sacking of Maldini at the time but I have a feeling they’d want to. They just couldn’t do it or else they’ll look bad. They didn’t know what the future held at the time and criticizing someone after a UCL semi and a Scudetto a year earlier wouldn’t have looked good. They still gave the little backhanded criticism after the summer window anyway so there’s that (part of which I agree to an extent for what it’s worth) and even called it the best transfers in many years. They enjoyed that Maldini restored the club even though they know they didn’t like him and called him a mercenary on his last day as a player. Hypocritical much? But it benefitted them at the time, so he got a pass.
Luca Lucci, the head of the curva, is an actual convicted criminal. And they have the balls to whine about ppl calling them mercenaries when they’re actual mercenaries. Don’t even know why these sites are giving this guy a pass🤦‍♂️

Not because they put out a statement saying they don’t do the things the way they don’t do doesn’t mean they haven’t or have never done that.
Maybe they’re fooling the younger fans but older heads here would tell u otherwise.
What stance exactly are we talking about here? They’re doing what they’ve always done. They’ve criticized projects in the past and they will in the future (whether right or wrong) and they will withdraw their support in crucial times as usual. Who knows they might ask us to not buy merch in the future 🤷‍♂️ but the Curva isn’t the ball end all of fan support! Thanks for the correography and atmosphere during games though, otherwise they can collectively go to the Frank stand.
